– A man in his sixties has died at the ongoing European Championships – The fan collapsed and died during the game between Ukraine and Northern Ireland – Another Northern Ireland man in his twenties also died after falling from eight metres in Nice Tragedy struck in France at the ongoing European Championships when a Northern Ireland fan collapsed and died during their 2-0 win against Ukraine in the Olympique Lyonnais grund in France.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that a man in his sixties fainted in the upper part of the ground and efforts made by the paramedics to revive him proved abortive.

Northern Ireland fans at euro 2016 Superintendent Nigel Goddard said: “Our thoughts are tragically with a second family this week mourning the devastating loss of their loved one.

“We understand the man aged in his sixties collapsed during the game and was attended to by emergency services in the Stade de Lyon. “It is extremely sad that this is the second death of a Northern Ireland fan in France during the Euro 2016 games.” A similar incident occurred on Monday after 24-year-old Darren Rodgers fell from eight metres off a promenade in Nice and died. The Olympique Lyonnais ground was packed with Northern Ireland supporters who have travelled to France in their droves for Northern Ireland’s first major tournament in 30 years.
